IP Telephony - The Next Generation of Voice Technology
Thursday, May 20, 2004
Venue: Fluno Center
Located at: 601 University Ave., Madison
"Internet Voice," also known as Internet Protocol (IP) Telephony and/or Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), is a technology topic that Accelerate Madison's members have been asking for in our line-up of programs.
IP Telephony technology allows you to make telephone calls using a broadband Internet connection instead of a regular analog phone line. A single computer network can be leveraged to deliver fully integrated communications: data, voice, and video traffic. Will IP Telephony change how we mobilize our communications? Does this technology make good business sense for your organization?
Because the Internet and the services provided over it are not regulated, an environment promoting competition and innovation to benefit consumers currently exists.
Jerry Rocco, IP Telephony Specialist, Cisco Systems - Chicago, will present an overview of Internet Voice capabilities and related business strategies for companies of all sizes. Then, panelists representing companies in various stages of evaluation or implementation of Internet Voice technology will share their experiences and opinions on issues such as: strategy, investment, best practices, quality and performance.
